Biography

Born in the beautiful coastal town of Clonakilty in West Cork, Ireland. John Cullinane was first introduced to the magical world of music at the tender age of six, when first sent to music lessons.
Here realizing his love of classical music, John joined the local brass band, opening up whole new genres of music. All this was thanks to his piano teacher, band leader, mentor and friend, Brawney Wycherley.
The following years saw John incorporate contemporary music such as Jazz, Blues and Rock n' Roll into his repertoire, playing piano and sax with Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Eric Bell(Thin Lizzy) and Donovan.
In 1989 age seventeen, John moved to Bavaria in Germany, playing and gaining vast and invaluable experience with some of the top brass musicians in Germany, resulting in a friendship that has lasted over twenty years.
On returning to Ireland with a newfound love of Eastern European, Latin American and Spanish music, John moved to Dublin and quickly became immersed in the cabaret scene playing piano, sax and vocals with Joanna and Tequila Sunrise touring Ireland and the Middle East. John has also toured with legendary Irish comedian Brendan Grace.
In 1998 deciding that it was time for change, John moved to New York City, playing the clubs and bars of the Big Apple, playing regularly in Greenwich Village and up and down the eastern coast of the United States.
John has performed at the Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco and the Cote d' Azur in the south of France. He has toured Spain with "The Legendary Acoustic Blues Band" and has featured on Eurovision winning songwriter Jimmy Walsh's album "Words Painting Pictures".
Now home in his native Ireland,John has returned to his classical roots with his debut album "This Life" which he describes as classical/world. A variation of Classical, Eastern European, Latin and Jazz music, in a contemporary style.
A multi-instrumentalist, John is also a singer of exceptional standard.
While much of his time is now spent composing, John insists that singing and performing live remains a passion to the end.
